Elizabeth Line wins the 2024 RIBA Stirling Prize

ACCON is delighted to learn that this year’s winner of the 2024 RIBA Stirling Prize is the Elizabeth Line designed by Grimshaw, Maynard Design Consultancy, EQUATION Lighting Design and AtkinsRéalis.

ACCON were involved in the very early stage of the of the project (then known as Crossrail), providing noise and vibration technical input on mitigating the impacts of constructing the Western Tunnels between Paddington and Farringdon. Our work on that project went on to win the Association of Noise Consultants 2013 Inaugural Environmental Acoustic Award.

Steve Summers, before joining ACCON, coordinated the noise and vibration assessments for Crossrail’s Environmental Statement. Steve subsequently acted as a noise and vibration specialist for contractors constructing various parts of the project, including a role as the groundborne noise and vibration specialist for construction of the Western Tunnels.
